Dear Parents/Carers, Our new newsletter can be found here. We hope you find that you have a better understanding of…
It’s been an exciting start to the term and one of the highlights of the week has to be our Fireworks evening held on Wednesday, 2nd November 2022. It was attended by over 1200 people who were treated to a spectacular array of colourful fireworks. Despite the rain, everyone had a wonderful time and we have received so many positive comments from the school and wider community. It was heart warming to see families and friends enjoying the rides and great food on sale.
Last year was our first ever Fireworks event and we had high hopes for this year. Without a doubt the display exceeded all expectations and was truly amazing. This event would not have been possible without the hard work of our PTA and in particular Katherine, Mel and Donna who have spent numerous hours organising the event to ensure its success. My thanks to all the staff who supported and to Mr Teague the Head from Cedars for allowing us to use his school field for the display. We have received so many positive and complementary comments. It showcased our school as a happy welcoming community. Here’s to next year’s fireworks event, definitely an annual event not to be missed. Thank you letter with photos from our PTA
Our PTA is an excellent team of dedicated parents who generously give their time to raise funds for our school. They need your support and welcome new ideas, so please do attend their AGM on 24th November 2022 at 6.00 p.m. in the Junior School. It’s a chance to find out more about how you can help the PTA and ultimately the School and the children.
Thank you to Class 5E for presenting the first class assembly of this term. It was informative and the children shared facts about the history of Guy Fawkes and bonfire night. It was a fabulous assembly with many cross curricular links to art, drama and computing.
The NHS immunisation team will be attending both the Junior and Infant sites on the 9th November to administer the spray to children whose parents have given consent. If you have not consented then your child will not receive the nasal spray.
If you would like your child to have the flu nasal spray and have not given consent please contact the office and they will give you a form to complete.
The weather is changing and temperatures dropping. Please ensure that your child wears their school coat every day and all items of uniform are clearly marked.
Mrs Fuentes is trying to find some Parent Champions to run these sessions. Many of you have been asking about this club as it provided a good opportunity to meet and share ideas. If you are interested in being a Parent Champion, please see the flyer here
We had a number of parents attend this talk and feedback was that it was useful to discuss ideas and access support available. We will be hosting further session related to supporting your child with their learning and development.
We would like to organise a series of sessions and would be delighted to hear any suggested topics you may have. Please email Mrs Odewale on: [email protected]
We are running the shoe box appeal again this year for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ Every year you are very generous in giving to this appeal for children who would otherwise receive nothing at Christmas. Thank you in advance for filling a shoe box with items from the list you received on the flyer this week, or use this link to see their website:’Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child‘ All shoeboxes need to be in school for Friday 18th November. These really do make a huge difference to the children who receive them.
Both the St Joseph’s football teams played matches yesterday against South Norwood. It was hosted here on the field and all those playing represented their teams well. Thank you and well done to all those who were involved.
St Joseph’s A Team match ended in a 2-2 draw and the B Team were beaten 3-1.
The Pupil Leadership team are working on an idea to raise money to donate to Children in Need. The focus is about being ‘Spotacular’. Further details will be sent out once they confirm arrangements. Pupil voice at its best yet again. Well done children!
Your child should have brought home a flyer with details about the HAF club. Please do email Mrs Odewale if you are interested in booking a place. Details are also on our Community page on our website HAF program
