Leavers Destinations

Secondary school destinations

St Joseph’s supports our pupils in their choice of secondary schools, whether they choose to stay in the state / maintained sector, or consider entry to the private / independent sector.

  • Strong core subject delivery: giving them the foundations for secondary school
  • Strong links with schools: we benefit from our proximity and working relationships with schools such as Cedars, Laurels and Trinity (to name a few), whereby our pupils have frequent opportunities to see what these secondary schools offer and to meet their students and staff
  • Free subscription to ATOM Learning: a sophisticated teaching and learning software package used by many preparatory schools and which is incorporated into our homework-setting – ATOM offers English, Maths, Science, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning practice and also gives targeted feedback
  • Interview preparation: All independent senior schools invite students to an interview as part of the admissions process. by giving our pupils a strong awareness of current events, through history and geography, we can help prepare our pupils to be confident, knowledgeable and articulate.
  • Scholarship preparation: Many of our pupils are awarded scholarships by senior independent schools in Sport, Art, Drama, Music, Academic or as an All-rounder. Our balanced curriculum helps to prepare pupils for these scholarships.

St Joseph’s pupils excel and have gained places (including bursaries and scholarships) at some of the most prestigious independent, grammar and maintained secondary schools in London (and beyond)

At the start of Year 6, we invite former pupils to visit the school and speak to parents and pupils about their experience and to offer advice on school choice and any relevant exam, interview or preparation process.
