We believe that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people, by a commitment to practice that protects them.
In addition, Ofsted regard safeguarding as the Golden Thread that runs through all aspects of school life. We embrace this status that is given to safeguarding and have an independent external safeguarding review at the beginning and end of the school year to ensure we are doing all we should to safeguard the children in our care.
We recognise that:
- The welfare of the child is paramount
- All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation, or identity, have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse
- The school policy applies to all children and young people
- Working in partnership with children, young people, their parents/carers and other agencies is essential in promoting young peoples welfare
The school policy applies to all staff, including senior managers and boards of trustees, paid staff, volunteers and sessional workers, agency staff, students or anyone acting on behalf of The Federation of St Joseph’s Nursery Infant and Junior School. We review our child protection policy and protocol at least annually to ensure they are still relevant and effective.
