All visitors should enter via the school office on Woodend, London, SE19 3NU.
Safeguarding
St Joseph’s is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The School recognises that the effectiveness and safety of its recruitment policy and procedures make a major contribution to child protection by helping to deter, reject or identify people who might be unsuitable for working with children.
References and official statements
Please direct all requests for employment references or official comment on any matter to the Headteacher, Mrs Leonore Fernandes, on [email protected]. The Headteacher is the only person authorised to provide a reference on behalf of the school for any pupil or employee, past or present, or comment on behalf of the school.
Smoking and nicotine-devices
All of St Joseph’s grounds are designated smoking-free zones and this includes vaping and e-cigarette devices. Please do not smoke anywhere on school grounds, including the carpark and please refrain from smoking outside the school gates during drop-off and pick-up. Not only is it unsightly, but the smoke also spreads onto school grounds and puts our children and staff at risk of disease.
Nut-free zone
Please do not bring onto school grounds or in your child’s packed lunch any nuts or products containing nuts. We have pupils and staff who have severe allergies and can suffer potentially life-threatening reactions to the slightest exposure to nuts, so please consider their safety.
Suppliers
Suppliers must have a full ID and if coming to work with our pupils and/or staff, bring their DBS documents for verification. The office is open from 08:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. during term time.
Please note, we do not accept trial products or ‘inspection invoices’. All purchases must be authorised by the Headteacher and include a valid Purchase Order number from the School Business Manager. Please do not offer to send us any products or services on any trial basis, even for a limited time, on the expectation that we will purchase it. All enquiries regarding this area must be directed to the Headteacher or School Business Manager; no other member of staff has any authority to commit the school to any expenditure.
Late arrivals
If you are late dropping off your child, please come to Woodend so that they can be correctly registered as being present. The gates on Crown Dale are only for deliveries.
Traffic enforcement cameras
Woodend is a school street, which means it is pedestrian and cyclist-only on weekdays, between 08:00 a.m. and 09:30 a.m., and between 02:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. This is enforced by automatic number plate recognition cameras so if you drive in during these times you will get a £130 fine from Croydon Council.
Parking consideration
Please be considerate when parking on neighbouring roads by not blocking driveways, not parking on the pavements and by being courteous to our neighbours.
Bus and train routes
The school is easily accessible on bus routes 68, 196, 468 and 432. Our nearest train station is West Norwood, which is approximately 10 mins walk.
CCTV, video and audio recording
The school grounds are constantly monitored by a CCTV system; St Joseph’s Federation is the data controller. Our policy on CCTV is available on the website. St Joseph’s is private property and all recording (whether video or audio) without the express permission of the Headteacher is prohibited.
