Dear Parents/Carers,

This week has been filled with the awe and wonder of Christmas.

The Nursery and reception children performed a wonderful Nativity for us all at the beginning of the week. Joel and Angel did a wonderful job as Joseph and Mary and all the children were brilliant! Their singing was full of passion and really delivered the message of Christmas. Thanks to everyone who help make the production a success.

KS2 finished the week with a heart- warming, engaging Christmas Concert. The Y5s sang Silent night in German whilst the Y6s performed and wrote the 12 days of St. Joseph’s which showcased their humour and creativity. Y4 performed some uplifting carols and Y3 made us tear up as the sang ‘Do you hear what I hear.’

All of our productions were full of parents and friends to the school. We are so grateful to you all for your support! Having you there really made a positive difference.

School Governors and Sharon, the Teaching and Learning Leader from Southwark Diocese came to support us and join in the festivities. We are so grateful to them for supporting our school community. An example of our school motto of ‘Together we can, with Christ by our side’ in action.

On Tuesday, I invited Mrs Fernandes to visit the school. She loved the Nativity, seeing all the staff and children and she was impressed by all the work we’d been doing at school. She’ll forever be a friend of St. Joseph’s.

We know that Christmas can be a difficult time for many families, so have worked with two external agencies to create Christmas Hampers for many of our families.

We have also given vouchers to supermarkets to our families elidable for Pupil Premium funding. If you are not sure if you’re applicable for Pupil Premium funding please click the link on our website to complete the free check or you can contact the school office for support.

A huge thank you to our wonderful, hard-working PTA who ensured that Santa visited our school and left a Christmas gift for every child and every staff member! Thanks to all the parents who gave up this time to spread the joy of Christmas throughout the school. This is the first time that this has happened and the excitement on children’s faces and the gratitude of the team for this kind-hearted gesture showcases what our school community is truly about; valuing and showing love to on another other.

In a term which we have had to overcome some challenges as a Community I am pleased to share some positive news with you all at its end.

I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs. Carlos and Adriana Torres on their recent marriage. We pray that God continues to bless, guide and protect your family and your union.

I would also like to share with you the news that one of our teachers, Mrs Chrusciak is expecting a baby. We hope she has a good pregnancy and that her baby grows healthily and thrives.

School returns on Monday 8th January. We hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and that 2024, brings you all joy, health and peace.

Merry Christmas,
Mrs Ashley and the St. Joseph’s Team
