Dear Parents and Friends
Netball and Football Tournament – Margaret Roper School (13.5.23)
Congratulations to our KS2 Netball and Football team for representing us brilliantly at the above
tournament last Saturday. They played well with sportsmanship and showed resilience when competing
against strong competition. The boys narrowly missed out qualifying for the quarter finals on goal
difference. The Netball team were proud to receive the trophy for best sportsmanship. Well done to
both teams for representing us brilliantly.

Thank you to Mrs Mangan, Mrs Lopeman and Mr Abrahams for training the teams and giving up their
Saturday to support the children.

Learning beyond the classroom

Science has been the focus of trips this week across the school. Reception visited Norwood Park to
explore mini beast and the local environment. Year 3 went to the Science Museum, year 4 to
Chislehurst Caves and year 5 visited London Zoo. Thank you to all the parent/carers who volunteered to
help on the trip and to staff for organising the trips. Children were well behaved and as always
enthusiastic about learning beyond the classroom. Other year groups have visits planned for after half
term, so please do look out for details.

5E’s Assembly

An excellent assembly from 5E. Well done children, you were so articulate and shared amazing scientific
information with us which linked perfectly to our Science week focus. I thought you worked well as a
team.

School Games Day – Friday, 26th May 2023

The weather forecast for next Friday is sunshine and no rain. Children should wear their school PE shorts

and their house colour T-shirt. Please make sure they have a school cap if the weather is hot and a water bottle.A letter has been sent out with details for the day, so please
ensure you read it carefully and complete the Google Form if you
wish to picnic with your child in the afternoon. Do read the letter
carefully as it outlines key information and expectations for
parents/carers picnicking with their child/children.
The picnic will be held on the field and football and other ball games will not be allowed. Children
should wear their school PE shorts and their house colour T-shirt. Please make sure they have a school
cap if the weather is hot and a water bottle.
