18 March 2022

As it is St Joseph’s feast day tomorrow, the children received cookies specially baked by the kitchen staff.

We will be celebrating St Joseph’s day on Monday. Mrs Speight a former music teacher at the school wrote a beautiful song to St Joseph. I am delighted that Mrs Speight has returned to work with the children and leads hymn practice every week. They are preparing for our special celebration Mass on Thursday, 28th April 2022. It’s wonderful to hear the children enthusiastically engaging.

Hymn to St Joseph

Dear St Joseph on this our special day
Dear St Joseph we ask you now to pray
For your children in the world today
St Joseph pray for us

Happy St Joseph’s day to everyone

Red Nose Friday – 18th March 2022

Thank you for your generous donations towards the Red Nose day appeal. It was great to see the children dress up and enter into creative activities to promote the appeal. My thanks to Mrs Mangan and Ms Ugbo for organising the egg and spoon race today in the junior playground. The children had a fabulous time, lots of smiles, laughter and serious competition. Well done children and adults for joining in the spirit of the event.

Year 6 Boosters

We will be running booster sessions for year 6 pupils during the first week of the Easter holidays. Sessions will start on Monday, 4th April and run until Friday, 8th April from 9.00 a.m. until 12.00 p.m.

It is important that your child attends daily for a prompt 9.00 a.m. start and is collected no later than 12.00 p.m. Staff will deliver focused reading and maths sessions to help prepare the children for their forthcoming KS2 SATS.

We will be holding a Y6 SATS meeting on Monday, 28th March 2022. You have the choice of attending at 8.30 a.m. or 3.30 p.m. I encourage you to attend to receive key information about SATS and how you can prepare and support your child.

PTA

The PTA’s AGM was held on Tuesday, 15th March 2022 at 6.00 p.m. in the Junior Hall and virtually on zoom. It was an excellent evening showcasing all the events that they have put together for our community recently, including our very first fireworks event as well as planning for many new ones.

The fireworks event in November 2021 made a profit of £3,473 from total sales of £9,102, a 38% margin.

Amazing effort from all involved – even Lord Sugar would be impressed!

They will also be holding a second-hand uniform sale on Saturday, 19th March 2022 between 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m, in the INFANT hall. Please enter via the Crown Dale gates (SE19 3NX) as the Saturday gymnastics club will be in the Junior (Woodend) side of the school.

Have a lovely weekend – not long to go now until term ends
