Crystal Palace Diving – Coming to St Joseph’s!
Crystal Palace Diving Club is coming to St Joseph’s!
Soon, it will be our turn for a visit from Crystal Palace Diving Club (CPDC) as part of their 4-year cycle of searching for natural potential in diving.
The best children go on to compete for their school in the South London School’s Competition which runs each term. Many children have gone on to compete in the London Youth Games, National Championships and some have even competed for Great Britain.
This year CPDC had two divers in the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The talent testing takes place in the school hall usually for years 3 – 6 and all children receive an England Talent Certificate for participating. Children identified as having some talent for diving are invited to take up sessions with CPDC. Starting in the beginner program, their progress is monitored to see which children can be fast-tracked into their competitive squads.
The testing is free, however, there is a charge to the parents if they accept a place in one of the coaching squads. All the training is outside of school times at Crystal Palace Sports Centre and at St Josephs’ College on Beulah Hill.
