In celebration of the World Cup that is being held in England at this time Trinity School hosted a Yr6 Primary School Tag Rugby competition where they were supported by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). There were 9 schools in attendance, most of whom brought 2 teams. St.Joseph’s team 1 and team 2 spent an enjoyable afternoon playing tag rugby on fields that the French Rugby Team are currently training on and have been graded to same quality as Twickenham! (So just a small step up from our own).
The Trinity rugby team were there to support the children and also to umpire the games and they did a great job. The St.Joseph’s pupils all played extremely well and gained confidence throughout the competition and were rewarded at the end with biscuits, cakes and juice for their efforts. Many of our children were awarded special wrist bands and one received a special mini rugby ball, for their sporting behaviour and following the “spirit of the games” values, these include honest, respect, team work, self belief, determination and passion.
