A huge congratulations to our St Joseph’s family
A lovely note to end the year on!
Following an Ofsted Inspection on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th June 2018, St Joseph’s Catholic Junior School has been judged ‘Outstanding.’
Ofsted rated the school ‘outstanding’ in all categories, including effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and the outcomes of pupils.
Acting Headteacher Lisa Kelly said: “Everyone is extremely proud of the school and this Ofsted report recognises the high standards that have been achieved in a relatively short space of time. This is a tremendous achievement and is one that St Joseph’s truly deserves. This judgement is a testament to the hard work of the staff, children, parents and governors over recent years. I am immensely proud to be Acting Headteacher of this incredible school.’
It is most gratifying to read that ‘highly ambitious leaders and governors have been uncompromising in making significant and sustainable improvements to all areas of school life since the previous inspection.’
The inspection team recognised that ‘teachers have very secure subject knowledge across the curriculum. They constantly ask questions to check pupils’ understanding. Teachers keep a close eye on how well pupils are doing in lessons and provide additional challenge to ensure that the most able pupils build on their skills and understanding.’
The inspectors were also extremely impressed with pupils’ excellent attitudes to learning. Pupils are described as charming, welcoming and courteous. The inspectors made a special mention of how positive relationships with adults in the school ‘creates a harmonious environment which supports learning well and ensures that pupils leave school with excellent social skills.
Governors stated that, ‘We are delighted that the school delivers an outstanding education for our pupils and would like to say a huge thank you to our staff and leadership team in being instrumental in making our vision a reality.”
