Department for Transport at St Joseph’s
We were very lucky to have a group of people visiting us on Friday to talk to some of year 5 and 6 about their careers. There was Lord Ahmad (Lord Ahmad was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Home Office in May 2015) and Sian Adams (Team Policy Advisor) from the Department for Transport. We also Had Matthew Ring (Senior Traffic Engineer) and Harshita Darbha (Electrical Engineer) from Mott Macdonald. From TfL we had Sam Mitha (Apprentice), Harry Warman (LU Engineering) and Hanna Buckingham (LU Engineering). The students really enjoyed asking questions about their different jobs and they were told how different curriculum subjects linked to various aspects of their roles. The students were able to engage with each group of guests who brought props and photos from their workplace and they asked some excellent questions and as always were a credit to the school and their parents. Thank you to Primary Futures who initiated this event and we look forward to working with them again in their goal of, “Helping primary school children make the connections between their lessons and their futures”.
