We were very lucky to receive some tickets to attend the award ceremony for the short listed authors of the funniest books of the year where the finalists were announced and received their trophies.
The children who attended the event were children who were selected by their class teachers for working hard in English lessons and always trying their best.
The award ceremony was hosted by CBBC’s Kate Thistleton and the judges who decided the winners for each category included Michael Rosen, who we all met personally and he signed our books for us.
Authors who attended the event included: Jim Smith who received an award for Best Laugh out loud book for 6-8year olds for Future Ratboy and the invasion of the Nom Noms; Christine Hamill who received her award for Best Laugh out loud book award for 9-13 year olds for her book The best Medicine and David Solomon who was the Laugh out loud Children’s Popjam winner for the most popular book overall. This is just to name a few of the authors and illustrators who were there.
Alesha Dixon also read some of her new book called Lightning girl which sounds very exciting.
We were lucky enough to see a section of the Horrible Histories theatre show as well as some of the Gangster Granny show.
We all had an amazing time, laughing and enjoying the award ceremony and we all came home with a free signed book. All children were extremely well behaved and really deserved this opportunity because of all of their hard work.
There will be opportunities in the future for other children who also work hard and try their best in English.
