Gruffalo in Reception!

Web adminAll Years

Reception children came into school and were amazed to find that someone had visited the classroom during the night and left a large footprint and a tiny footprint! We all discussed who it might have been and the children suggested maybe a giant, a dinosaur or maybe the Gruffalo. We then read the story of ‘The Gruffalo and saw from the pictures that the footprint was exactly like his and the little mouse from the story!  During the week we worked together in our learning group to create characters from the story. We used card and paint to make the gruffalo, collage materials for the mouse, small balls of tissues paper and border paper for the fox, we wrapped green tissue paper and made a face and spots for the snake and for the owl we painted paper plates and drew circles from paper to make the eyes. Then a child from each group wrote a label for each character and Emezie chose to write a sentence about the story.
