A Great Day For All Involved
St.Joseph’s were one of a small number of schools in Croydon to be selected for a special day of cycling at Herne Hill Velodrome. The children had taken part in the Rollapaluza stationary bike races which established our fastest riders in Yr 6 and were supposed to have taken part in the schools’ race of the Pearl Izumi Tour in Croydon on 13th June 2016. Due to thunder and lightening the race was cancelled and this opportunity was a consolation for missing the race.
Our children were a credit to the school both with their skills and attitude. They were asked to race both individually and also as a team. We took the top two slots for the individual races and they were complimented by an instructor, on their teamwork, who said they were one of the best schools to have performed that task at the velodrome. (See picture). All the more impressive as there are no brakes on these bikes!
We offer, free of charge, the bikeability level one course to our Yr 4 children annually in April and the bikeabilty level 2 course to our Yr 5 children every September. Please look out for these opportunities on our Sports Page in Teaching and Learning.
